  • 2/3 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 (12 oz) can PET® Evaporated Milk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


  • HEAT oven to 350°F. Adjust oven rack to center position.
  • COOK 1/3 cup sugar in heavy skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar melts into a light brown syrup. Pour syrup immediately into an 8-inch pie plate.
  • WHISK evaporated milk, water, eggs, 1/3 cup sugar, vanilla and salt in small bowl until eggs are incorporated. Pour mixture over syrup in pie plate. Place pie plate into a larger, shallow baking pan. Pour boiling water into baking pan until it reaches half way up the side of the pie plate.
  • BAKE 40 minutes or until knife inserted 1-inch from edge comes out clean. Cool. Run spatula around edge of pan to loosen. Invert onto serving dish. Serve warm or cold.
